WARSAW, Poland – September 27, 2025 – RegioJet, Central Europe's largest private railway operator, is poised to significantly impact the Polish rail market with its expansion plans, promising increased competition and potentially lower fares for travelers. The Czech-based company is scheduled to launch its first Polish route, connecting Warsaw and Krakow, on September 18, 2025. Further expansion is planned for mid-December, introducing connections from Warsaw to major Polish cities including Gdynia and Poznan, as well as international destinations such as Prague, Ostrava, and Vienna. This move is expected to challenge the long-standing dominance of state-owned PKP. RegioJet will offer four distinct service classes: Low Cost, Standard, Relax, and Business. Passengers across all classes will receive a complimentary beverage upon boarding, with Business Class travelers enjoying additional perks like a glass of prosecco or unlimited coffee and tea. The announcement has generated considerable discussion among the public. One commenter stated, "This is great news, maybe finally something will change here and ticket prices will be lower. Let's face it, for an adult without a student discount, it's not worth traveling by train." However, concerns about the impact on the national carrier, PKP, were also voiced. Another user remarked, "First they will lower prices, then they will destroy PKP, raise prices so much that we will miss our native PKP Intercity etc." Despite these varied opinions, the prevailing sentiment among many is a hope for improved service and more affordable travel options. "More competition in the market means lower prices for us, the travelers. I'm eagerly waiting!" said the video's author, Kajetano. Industry analysts suggest that RegioJet's entry could indeed drive down prices, potentially offering Business Class tickets at rates comparable to or even lower than PKP's second-class Pendolino fares, as highlighted by the video's author. The company has not yet released specific pricing details, but promises to do so soon.
