A British tourist on holiday in Tenerife has reported a severe case of traveler's diarrhea, which she attributes to the hygiene standards at her four-star hotel. The woman, who uploaded a video detailing her ordeal, stated that she became gravely ill shortly after consuming food at the hotel on the first night of her trip. She claimed to have been unable to keep anything in her system since then, forcing her to call a doctor at a cost of 100 euros and remain confined to her hotel room for much of her stay. "It has been like a full-blown exorcism," she said in the video, expressing her extreme distress and disappointment. She emphasized that she is a vegetarian, has not consumed meat, and only drank bottled water, leading her to suspect the hotel's food preparation. She described the illness as the worst she has experienced in 29 years. The holiday was intended as a rare family trip, as her partner is frequently deployed with the army. She stated that the experience has "completely ruined" their time together. Comments on her video indicate that other travelers have faced similar issues in Tenerife, with some suggesting that salads washed with tap water could be a cause of such illnesses.
