    Houston Makeup Artist Accused of 'Extortion' Over Last-Minute Price Hikes for Concert Appointments

    Houston, TX - A local woman has shared her frustrating experience with a Houston makeup artist (MUA), alleging "extortion" after her pre-booked appointment for a "Cowboy Carter" event was subject to a last-minute price increase. The client, who had booked her appointment a month in advance and paid a deposit, was informed via text message just two days before the event that the price would be higher due to increased demand for the concert. The MUA stated that these prices were always intended for the event but had not yet been updated on his booking site.The client challenged the price increase, arguing that the original price should be honored since she booked early and paid a deposit under the initial terms. When she requested a refund, the MUA initially offered to send it back. However, in a subsequent message, he retracted the offer, citing a strict "no refunds" policy for his business and instead offered to reschedule her appointment for a different day in June at the original rate. The client expressed her dismay, stating she does not live in the area and found the MUA's actions highly unprofessional and contradictory, particularly given the prior offer of a refund. She highlighted that she had previously lost a $50 deposit with the same MUA due to a flight cancellation, which she had understood, but this current situation was unacceptable due to the MUA's shifting policies.
