French Parliament Probes TikTok's Influence on Minors: Influencers Under Scrutiny
French Parliament Investigates TikTok's Impact on Minors: Influencers Summoned to Testify Paris, France – A parliamentary inquiry into the psychological effects of TikTok on minors has summoned several prominent French influencers to testify. The inquiry, approved by the National Assembly in March 2025, is investigating the content and practices of influencers, with a particular focus on the potential harm to children. Among those summoned are Nasdas, known for his videos featuring young people; AD Laurent, whose TikTok account was recently suspended; and Hugo Décrypte, a popular commentator. Julien and Manon Tanti are also under scrutiny. The inquiry also includes economists and representatives from victim advocacy groups. "This commission is not a tribunal," stated Arthur Delaporte, the Socialist deputy presiding over the inquiry, emphasizing the investigative, not punitive, nature of the proceedings. The inquiry's conclusions, aiming to propose protective measures for minors, are expected by September 12, 2025. This investigation highlights the growing concern over the potential negative impacts of social media on young people.
