Athens, Greece – Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis today visited the fully renovated Emergency Department of KAT Hospital, emphasizing significant improvements within the National Health System (NHS). The Prime Minister highlighted that KAT Hospital now employs 191 more healthcare professionals compared to 2019, reinforcing its capacity to serve the public. During his visit, Mr. Mitsotakis stated, "The Emergency Departments of KAT Hospital serve approximately 87,000 citizens annually, with about 25,000 of them requiring hospitalization." He further noted that KAT is recognized as the largest trauma hospital in Greece. Financially, the hospital's budget has seen a substantial increase, rising by 70% since 2019. In 2024, KAT Hospital received 66.3 million, a significant jump from 39.2 million in 2019. These renovation projects, as the Prime Minister explained, are being funded through resources from the Recovery Fund. Looking ahead, Mr. Mitsotakis announced that all 17 hospitals in the Attica region are slated to have their emergency departments fully renovated and delivered by early 2026, signaling a broader commitment to modernizing healthcare infrastructure across the country. The visit underscored the government's ongoing efforts to enhance public health services.
