New Patras-Pyrgos Highway Opens Tomorrow, Prime Minister Announces

Athens, Greece – Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced today the official opening of the new state-of-the-art Patras-Pyrgos highway, set to be fully operational for public use starting tomorrow. The Prime Minister shared the news from inside a vehicle, offering a first glimpse of the completed road. In his statement, Mr. Mitsotakis highlighted the transformative impact of the new highway. "These are the first kilometers on the new Patras-Pyrgos highway, which we are preparing to inaugurate shortly. It will be open to traffic from tomorrow," he stated. He further emphasized the benefits for local residents, noting, "This highway, in addition to making life much easier for the residents of Western Greece, will also solve a huge safety problem that this road previously had." The Prime Minister underscored the importance of the project, stating, "I believe it is perhaps the best way to honor the memory of the dozens of our fellow citizens who lost their lives because, unfortunately, the Greek state did not take care to construct a modern and safe highway in time." The completion of the Patras-Pyrgos highway is expected to significantly enhance connectivity and road safety in the region.
