Abandoned Bear Cub Rescued in Abruzzo National Park
A tiny bear cub, found abandoned near a road in Italy's Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park on May 9th, has been rescued and is now thriving at the Pescasseroli wildlife center. The cub, estimated to be four to five months old, was discovered in the Pizzone area (Isernia). Park officials immediately implemented a rescue protocol, similar to one used successfully in 2015 to save another bear cub, Morena. "The cub is doing well and is receiving excellent care," stated a park spokesperson. The hope is to eventually reintroduce the cub back into its natural habitat. This successful rescue underscores the ongoing commitment to protecting the region's wildlife and preserving the delicate balance of its ecosystem. The story highlights the dedication of park rangers and wildlife experts who work tirelessly to ensure the survival of these magnificent animals. The cub's recovery is a testament to their expertise and unwavering commitment to conservation.
