Dismembered Body in La Atarjea Identified as 19-Year-Old Venezuelan Woman

Lima, Peru – Authorities have identified the dismembered body found in the La Atarjea water treatment plant as Fabiola Alejandra Caicedo Piña, a 19-year-old Venezuelan national. Police sources confirmed her identity through distinctive tattoos, including one that reads "Call me by what I am" in English and another with the name "Paula Sofia 12-12-15" on her back. Ms. Caicedo Piña, who worked as a hostess at a discotheque in North Lima, was last seen in a video posted to her personal social media account on June 5th. Her torso and a leg were discovered four days later on June 9th within the plant's facilities. Rescue police entered the Sedapal plant to recover the remains. The Homicide Division of the police force is actively continuing its investigation to apprehend those responsible for this horrific crime. The incident has drawn attention to the ongoing challenges of insecurity and the prevalence of femicides in the region.
