Scandal at Mexico City Forensic Institute: Employees Caught Playing with Cadavers Amid Worker Protests
Mexico City, Mexico - An investigative report by Latinus has uncovered disturbing practices at the Institute of Forensic Sciences (INCIFO) in Mexico City, revealing alleged undignified treatment of human remains and operational deficiencies. Footage obtained by Latinus shows two necropsy technicians manipulating a cadaver in a disrespectful manner during their work. The video also captures Andrés Oriol Morales, the institute's subdirector, posing with a skull, simulating drinking from it, an act described as a clear transgression of post-mortem dignity protocols. Workers at INCIFO have publicly denounced a lack of personnel, insufficient supplies, and inadequate strategies for the preservation of human remains. They directly accuse Director Patricia Crespo and Subdirector Andrés Oriol Morales of being responsible for these operational failures. It was revealed that Morales had previously received a public admonition in 2021 for failing to comply with necropsy guidelines in femicide cases. Further evidence presented includes photographs from the forensic amphitheater showing bodies improperly wrapped and stored on the floor, with some mortuary bags torn and leaking natural fluids. These conditions highlight a severe lack of respect for the deceased and potential public health risks. Employees are also protesting for a 10% salary increase, judicial career recognition, and retroactive payment from 2021, asserting that they have been threatened with dismissal for speaking out and denouncing these issues. They are calling for immediate intervention from the Mexico City Human Rights Commission, the Prosecutor's Office for Public Servants, and the Federal Judiciary to address these critical concerns and ensure dignified working conditions and treatment of human remains.
