Sheinbaum Declares Grupo Salinas Must Pay 26 Billion Pesos in Back Taxes
Mexico City, June 27, 2025 – Claudia Sheinbaum, a leading political figure, today affirmed that Grupo Salinas is obligated to pay 26 billion pesos in outstanding taxes. Speaking publicly, Sheinbaum stated that these tax debts, which have been pending for 16 years, will be addressed, particularly with the anticipated appointment of new ministers to the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN). "These are not judgments coming from the current or previous government," Sheinbaum explained, "but taxes that have not been paid for 16 years." She criticized the alleged use of "corrupt lawyers and ties with judges, magistrates, and ministers" by the company to evade these payments. Sheinbaum also highlighted that there are 74 billion pesos in various ongoing lawsuits related to tax issues. She underscored the importance of transparency and accountability, asserting that the new judiciary would not dare to act against the interests of the Mexican people. "They speak of the rule of law," Sheinbaum remarked, "but when it comes to them, they refuse to comply."
