Guatemalan President Pledges Support for Footballers' Naturalization Ahead of World Cup Qualifiers

Guatemalan President Bernardo Arévalo today addressed concerns regarding the naturalization process for football players Cheka Hernández and José Corena, whose inclusion in the national team is sought for upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Speaking at a press conference, President Arévalo stated his commitment to facilitating the process within the existing legal framework. 'What is within my power as President of the Republic to do, within the framework of existing legislation to facilitate a process, I will do it,' he affirmed. He emphasized the importance of a strong national team, stating, 'It's good that we have a national team in which we can all place our hope because we have already seen them fight like lions and demonstrate that they can. Guatemala can count on them to have a good participation and reach the World Cup.' The President's remarks come amidst efforts to bolster the national squad's chances in international competitions.
