Kenyan Politician Accuses DCI of Torturing and Poisoning MP
Kenyan Politician Alleges Torture and Poisoning of MP A press conference outside Karen Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, has brought to light serious allegations against the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). Rigathi Gachagua, a prominent Kenyan politician, claims that Member of Parliament George Koimburi was arrested, tortured, and poisoned by DCI officers. According to Gachagua, the incident occurred after Koimburi attended a function in his constituency. He alleges that Koimburi was chased by DCI officers and escaped on a motorbike with the help of local constituents. His vehicle was impounded, and his driver arrested. Gachagua stated, "MP Koimburi was arrested by DCI officers and tortured by professionals and has lost his voice. He was also poisoned by chemicals!" Koimburi was later found in a coffee plantation in Kibichoi, seriously injured. He is currently hospitalized at Karen Hospital, where doctors are conducting tests to determine the extent of his injuries and the effects of the alleged poisoning. The doctors have taken blood and urine samples for analysis at private laboratories. This incident raises serious questions about the conduct of law enforcement and the safety of elected officials in Kenya. Further investigations are needed to determine the validity of Gachagua's claims and to ensure accountability for any wrongdoing.
