Kenyan MP Allegedly Tortured, Unable to Speak
Juja MP George Koimburi was allegedly tortured and is unable to speak, according to a press conference given by William Ruto's party leader, Riggy G. The press conference, which was held at a hospital in Kenya, detailed how Koimburi was allegedly accosted by DCI officers last Friday, escaping on a motorbike with the help of local constituents. His vehicle was impounded and his driver arrested. Riggy G stated, "Doctors have confirmed that the Honorable George Koimburi was tortured by professionals. He has serious soft tissue injuries." Koimburi was found badly beaten in a coffee plantation in Kirichonyi, Githongo constituency, early Sunday morning. He is currently communicating through writing. Doctors are working to restore his vocal cords. This incident highlights concerns about political violence and the safety of elected officials in Kenya.
