Минчанке пришлось вернуть вузу 3500$ за отработку после неожиданного увольнения
Беременную минчанку уволили без ее ведома – университет потребовал вернуть деньги за бюджетное обучение. Это еще как?
MINSK, Belarus – A young woman in Minsk, who wishes to remain anonymous, has publicly detailed her struggle with the Belarusian higher education system, revealing she was forced to repay over $3,500 to her university after being dismissed from her mandatory post-graduation employment. The woman, a single mother, had completed her studies on a state-funded budget, which required her to work for two years in a state-assigned position. She stated, "I worked one year as a teacher in a dormitory, and for the second year, I was reassigned to an organization where my now ex-husband worked." She explained that after becoming pregnant, she was dismissed from this position. The university then informed her that her mandatory work-off period was deemed incomplete due to her dismissal, demanding repayment for nine months of her education. "I thought I had gone on maternity leave, but in fact, they fired me," she recounted. Her attempts to secure a payment deferral, citing her modest $200 maternity benefits, were denied by the university, which granted her only six months to settle the debt. Facing legal action from the university, she ultimately borrowed the substantial sum from her father. The incident highlights potential rigidities within the state-funded education and employment system, particularly for individuals facing unforeseen life circumstances.
