The individual, an NPD (self-employment tax) payer, received a summons for an administrative offense related to income reporting. The core of the issue, as explained by the self-employed person, was the timing of reporting cash income. She had performed a service and received cash on May 13th but registered the transaction in the NPD system on May 14th. According to the tax office, cash transactions must be recorded immediately upon receipt, unlike non-cash transactions, which can be reported by the 7th of the following month. The individual emphasized the importance for other self-employed persons to be aware of this specific regulation, advising immediate check generation and sending to clients, even if unsolicited, to avoid similar penalties.
