2,000 Ketum Trees Destroyed in Hilir Perak Crackdown
Hilir Perak, Malaysia: In a coordinated effort involving multiple agencies, authorities in Labu Kubong, Hilir Perak, destroyed nearly 2,000 ketum trees on Thursday. The operation, spanning 8.09 hectares, saw the trees felled, poisoned, and uprooted using heavy machinery. Assistant Commissioner Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin, Hilir Perak District Police Chief, stated, "This operation is part of our ongoing efforts to combat illegal ketum cultivation, which is a violation of the National Land Code." The operation is a significant step in the fight against illegal drug cultivation in the region. Dr. Bakri added, "We are committed to working with all stakeholders to eradicate this problem and bring those responsible to justice."
