KLIA Customs Seizes RM1.56 Million Worth of Unlicensed Drones
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – In a significant operation, the Customs Department at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) successfully intercepted 20 units of DJI T50 drones that were being illegally imported into the country. The drones, discovered within a 20-foot container at North Port, Port Klang on April 23, 2025, are valued at RM1.56 million. "This is the first time we've encountered such a large-scale attempt to smuggle drones without the proper import licenses," stated Raizam Setapa, Deputy Director-General of Customs, during a press conference. The operation underscores the ongoing efforts by Malaysian customs to combat illegal imports and ensure compliance with import regulations. The successful seizure also highlights the potential security risks associated with the unregulated import of drones and the importance of strict enforcement of import regulations.
