One Dead, Four Injured in Two-MPV Crash in Perak A fatal accident involving two multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs) occurred at kilometer 1.8 on Jalan Gerik-Kupang in Perak, Malaysia, resulting in one death and four serious injuries. The incident, reported to authorities around 11:45 pm on May 30th, involved a 49-year-old male driver who lost control of his vehicle, entering oncoming traffic and colliding with another MPV. "We received information about the accident around 11:45 pm last night," stated Gerik District Police Chief, Superintendent Muhammad Firdaus Abdullah. The impact of the collision was severe, causing significant damage to both vehicles. The 49-year-old driver died at the scene, despite receiving immediate medical attention at Gerik Hospital. His 56-year-old wife sustained a fractured rib and was transferred to Taiping Hospital. Their two young children, aged 3 and 5, suffered head and facial injuries and were taken to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh for treatment. The investigation continues under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. This tragic event serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and cautious driving practices.
