

Customs Department Busts RM1.48 Million Cigarette Smuggling Ring in Kelantan
Royal Malaysian Customs Seizes RM1.48 Million Worth of Smuggled Cigarettes in Kelantan Kota Bharu, Kelantan – In a significant operation against cigarette smuggling, the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) Kelantan seized over 1.72 million sticks of various brands of smuggled cigarettes. The raid took place at a house in Kampung Babong, Kota Bharu, on May 7th, at 10:30 am. The estimated value of the seized cigarettes is RM1.48 million, including duties. According to Wan Jamal Abdul Salam Wan Long, the head of the investigation, "The investigation revealed that the cigarettes were stored in a rented premise before distribution." The video shows officers displaying various brands of seized cigarettes. The investigation is ongoing under sections 135(1)(e) and 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967. This successful operation highlights JKDM's commitment to combating illegal activities and protecting the country's revenue.
