CRYSTAL RIVER, FL – A family is seeking justice following an alleged incident of racial harassment and wrongful termination at a Burger King in Crystal River, Florida. According to a social media post by the mother of a 17-year-old employee, her daughter, who is Black, was reportedly subjected to repeated racial slurs over her headset by a manager and another employee while on duty. The incident, which customers reportedly overheard and intervened in, escalated when the employee's grandmother arrived at the restaurant to confront the situation. Following the confrontation, the teenage employee was allegedly fired. Further concerns were raised regarding the response from the Citrus County Sheriff's Office. The mother claims that law enforcement officers refused to review video evidence of an employee admitting to using racial slurs, stating it did not constitute "harassment" because Burger King had not documented the racism. She also reported being told to "stop interrupting" while attempting to speak on behalf of her daughter. The family is now calling for accountability from Burger King and local law enforcement, urging public support to demand justice for their daughter.
