‘Don’t call an HVAC tech’: Green Bay realtor shows how to fix your A/C when it …
A Wisconsin-based individual shares a simple DIY method for fixing a central air conditioning unit without spending a penny.
As summer temperatures rise, many homeowners find their air conditioning units struggling to keep up. However, before calling an expensive HVAC technician, a simple DIY solution might be all that's needed, especially in areas prone to cottonwood. Local realtor Monte, known for sharing home tips, recently demonstrated a quick and effective method to improve AC performance. According to Monte, cottonwood can silently clog outdoor AC coils, forcing the unit to overwork and reduce its cooling efficiency. "If you notice your thermostat is set lower than your actual temperature and your air conditioner is on but not able to keep up, especially around our area, we just got a huge cottonwood boom," Monte stated in his recent video. The solution is surprisingly simple: a garden hose. Monte advises gently spraying down the exterior coils of the AC unit. "You don't want to spray too hard because you got to keep these little coils in there all good," he cautioned, referring to the delicate fins that can be bent by excessive water pressure. The goal is to wash all the accumulated cottonwood down to the bottom, allowing for better airflow and more efficient operation. This straightforward maintenance tip can not only restore your AC's performance but also contribute to its longevity, saving homeowners from unnecessary repair costs.
