Seville, Spain – A local mechanic, Juan José Ebenezer, owner of Talleres Ebenezer, recently shared crucial advice on proper windshield wiper maintenance, highlighting common errors that could lead to costly repairs. In a recent video, Ebenezer stressed the importance of never using windshield wipers on a dry surface. "If you do this without water, you'll likely scratch the glass," he warned, demonstrating the action on a car's windshield. Ebenezer also emphasized the necessity of using specialized windshield wiper fluid instead of tap water. He explained that tap water can lead to lime buildup in the system and lacks the cleaning and antifreeze properties found in proper fluids. "It's very economical to use the right fluid, especially in cold areas, to prevent freezing and maintain cleaning effectiveness," he stated. Furthermore, the mechanic advised against forcing the wiper system if no water comes out. "If you press it and no water comes out, don't force it, don't insist," he urged. "You'll only overheat and damage the water pump." He recommended waiting for the circuit to fill and if water still doesn't emerge, seeking professional assistance to avoid further damage.
