Jailbreak in New Orleans: Maintenance Worker Arrested, Four Inmates Recaptured
New Orleans Jailbreak: Maintenance Worker Arrested for Allegedly Facilitating Escape Ten inmates escaped from the Orleans Parish jail in New Orleans on Friday morning, creating a major security breach. The escape was facilitated by a maintenance worker, 33-year-old Sterling Williams, who is now facing 11 charges, including ten counts of principle to simple escape and one count of malfeasance in office. According to Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill, Williams complied with the inmates' request to turn off the water in their cell. This allowed them to remove a toilet and create a hole in the wall, enabling their escape. "This was an inside job," said a spokesperson from the Sheriff's office. Surveillance footage shows the inmates making their escape through the hole in the wall. Four of the ten escapees have already been recaptured. Williams was initially booked into the same jail before being transferred to another facility. The incident highlights serious security concerns within the Orleans Parish jail and raises questions about oversight and accountability.
