Community Cleans Up After Petropavlovsk Flood
Petropavlovsk Residents Rally to Clean Dam After Flood A large-scale cleanup operation took place this past weekend in the Podgora microdistrict of Petropavlovsk, Kazakhstan, following a recent spring flood. Residents joined forces to clear the dam of debris and waste as part of the nationwide "Tazas Kazakhstan" environmental campaign. The effort involved removing significant amounts of garbage and old sandbags left behind by the flood. Anatoliy Belozerov, a Petropavlovsk resident, not only participated in the cleanup but also contributed to the dam's reinforcement earlier in the spring. "A clean city is our shared responsibility," he stated. His participation highlights the community's ongoing commitment to protecting their environment. Approximately 100 people, including civil servants, medical workers, and employees from various organizations, took part in the cleanup. Evgeniy Akulov, another participant, emphasized the collaborative spirit: "Everyone came together to help, just like they did during the flood. No one leaves anyone behind in times of need." The dam, 4 kilometers long, was divided into eight sections for efficient cleanup. The successful cleanup demonstrates the resilience and community spirit of Petropavlovsk's residents in the face of environmental challenges.
