The incident began when employees from an energy sales outlet obtained her passport information under false pretenses. Later, she received a call from individuals posing as law enforcement officers, who claimed her personal information was at risk. The woman, believing their claims, handed over $100,000 to a courier. A 64-year-old woman, also a victim of fraud, was identified as the recipient of the funds. This case highlights the ongoing threat of financial scams and the importance of public awareness.
