Agricultural Enterprise Director Arrested in Belarus for Bribery Scheme

MINSK, Belarus – The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus has announced the arrest of a director of an agricultural enterprise in the Minsk region on charges of bribery. The individual is accused of repeatedly receiving illegal remuneration for manipulating procurement procedures. According to a statement from law enforcement, officers from the economic crimes unit in the Vitebsk region uncovered multiple instances where the director accepted bribes totaling over 19,000 Belarusian rubles. These payments were allegedly made to ensure commercial organizations secured contracts for the supply of spare parts required for the repair of agricultural machinery. The investigation revealed that the director facilitated favorable outcomes for specific companies in competitive bidding processes in exchange for financial compensation. The Ministry of Internal Affairs released footage showing the alleged transfer of funds and the subsequent apprehension of the suspect. Legal proceedings have been initiated, and the accused faces severe penalties under Belarusian law. If convicted, the individual could face a prison sentence of up to 10 years.
