Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – A recent incident near the iconic KLCC has brought to light a predatory scam targeting tourists, as a Thai couple narrowly avoided paying an exorbitant sum to an unauthorized photographer. The couple, visiting Kuala Lumpur, was approached by a photographer who offered to take their pictures for what they understood to be RM20 per person. After a session that included 43 photos, the photographer presented a bill totaling RM860, asserting that the RM20 charge was per photo, not per individual. "He told me RM20 per person," the tourist recounted, expressing shock at the sudden price hike. "Then he showed me the calculator with RM860. I said, 'No, you told me RM20 per person!'" The photographer insisted on the inflated price, refusing to allow the couple to select fewer photos. The tourists ultimately refused to pay the fraudulent amount. This incident serves as a crucial warning for visitors to popular tourist destinations to clarify pricing details upfront and be wary of unsolicited services from unregistered vendors. Authorities are urged to investigate such practices to protect tourists and maintain the city's reputation.
