Hotel Employee Accused in Attempted Break-In of Teen Athletes' Room
GARDEN GROVE, CA – Three South Bay teenagers narrowly escaped a harrowing incident last week when an individual attempted to break into their hotel room at the Marriott Delta Hotel in Garden Grove, Southern California. The girls were in the area for a water polo tournament when the incident occurred. According to Charlotte, one of the teens involved, she awoke to the sound of her door rattling. "Our first thought was that like someone was trying to come in there and like kidnap us, I guess or something, so we were all just really scared," Charlotte stated. The perpetrator used a bent wire to manipulate the door lock. The girls quickly began recording the attempt, with Charlotte eventually grabbing the wire to prevent further entry. Charlotte's mother, Tiffany, confirmed that hotel management identified the individual as an employee. "They did confirm that it was an employee," Tiffany said, adding that she was informed the employee "was going to be terminated." A police report has been filed, and the incident raises serious questions about hotel guest safety. Marriott has been contacted for comment but has not yet responded.
