Miami, FL – The cause of death for Ahmonique Miller, a young mother who died in March hours after undergoing cosmetic surgery in Miami, has been revealed as acute combined drug toxicity. The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that a combination of the prescription painkiller Oxycodone and an unregulated designer drug, Bromazolam, was responsible for her death. Miller had traveled to Miami with her sister, Kiera Barnes, for cosmetic procedures at Avana Plastic Surgery Clinic. Following the surgery, Miller was transferred to an unlicensed facility known as Keyla's Recovery House on Southwest Fourth Street, where she tragically died hours later. According to a preliminary police death investigation report, Keyla Oliver, the owner of the recovery house, admitted to providing Miller with an unknown number of muscle relaxers from Kiera's prescription and two Percocet pills from an unlabeled bottle. Oliver reportedly did not possess a license to practice medicine. Miller's own prescribed medication was not ready at the time. The Medical Examiner's report explicitly states that the combined use of these drugs in the hours following Miller's procedure was responsible for the fatal outcome, adding that there was no evidence of acute surgical complications. Experts note that the combined use of such drugs can severely impact breathing and increase the risk of death during sleep. Ahmonique's mother, Wakeelah Miller, expressed profound grief, stating, "I have to remind myself every day that this is real. Ahmonique is not coming back." She added, "She was extremely smart, she was beautiful. A big loss, just a big loss." Ms. Miller declined to speak further on camera due to the ongoing investigation but emphasized her determination to understand how this tragedy occurred and to prevent similar incidents in the future. Miami Police have been contacted for an update on the ongoing investigation.
