DC Metro Launches Contactless Payment System: "Tap. Ride. Go."
Washington, D.C. - WMATA's new "Tap. Ride. Go." contactless payment system is now live. Metro riders can now use their credit or debit cards or mobile wallets to pay fares at station gates. News4 reporter Joseph Olmo tested the system and reported it worked flawlessly. "Oh my god, my credit card worked!" exclaimed Olmo upon successful entry. This new system offers a faster and more convenient alternative to the traditional SmarTrip card, eliminating the need for riders to use fare machines. The WMATA expects this upgrade to significantly improve the rider experience, particularly for those who prefer contactless payment methods. The system is currently being rolled out across the entire Metro system. The WMATA encourages all riders to try the new "Tap. Ride. Go." system and experience the convenience for themselves.
