Floyd Shivambu Reveals Internal MK Party Disagreements and Refusal of Private Meeting Request
Johannesburg, South Africa – Former uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) Party Secretary General Floyd Shivambu has shed light on internal party dynamics, including the attempted expulsion of a member from Mpumalanga, identified as Marry Phadi. Speaking at a recent engagement, Shivambu recounted his initial opposition to Phadi's expulsion during the party's first meeting. "There was a decision to expel her. I didn't even know who she was," Shivambu stated. He added, "In the first meeting, I even said that please don't expel comrades, it's too early. Let's go and engage with them." Shivambu further disclosed that Marry Phadi later sought a private meeting with him to brief him, a request he declined. "Marry Phadi asked for a private meeting to brief me then I said I can't do that," he affirmed. He elaborated on his stance, explaining that "majority of times, comrades would want to meet you privately and be buddy-buddy so that they are protected when they do wrong things in the organization." This revelation by Shivambu highlights internal party discussions and a commitment to transparency regarding official processes, particularly concerning disciplinary actions and informal engagements within the political structure. The former SG's comments provide insight into the party's early operational challenges and its approach to member conduct.
