A Serbian tourist group encountered a significant issue at the Evzoni border crossing while exiting Greece on July 28, 2025. The group, which had entered Greece via Bulgaria on July 21, 2025, reported that two of their six passports, including one belonging to a minor, were not stamped by Bulgarian border officials upon entry into the EU via the Kalotina crossing. Upon their return journey to Serbia, Greek border police at Evzoni identified the unstamped passports. Despite explanations that the group traveled together and attributed the oversight to Bulgarian officials, Greek authorities did not accept the reasoning. One adult member of the group was consequently deemed to have illegally entered Greece and was issued a fine of "1200. The alternative penalty offered was a four-year ban from entering Greece. The affected tourist has sought advice on potential avenues for appeal and whom to contact regarding the incident, highlighting the severity of the consequences for an administrative error at a previous border.
