Double Murder Outside Jewish Museum in Washington: Suspect Shouted "Free Palestine"

On a Wednesday night, two Israeli embassy officials were fatally shot outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. The Metropolitan Police Department identified the suspect as 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez from Chicago, Illinois. According to NBC News, Rodriguez shouted "Free Palestine" during his arrest. The Israeli Embassy condemned the attack as "a depraved act of antisemitic terrorism." Chief of Police Pamela Smith stated, "Prior to the shooting, the suspect was observed pacing back and forth outside of the museum. He approached a group of four people, produced a handgun, and opened fire, striking both of our decedents." Following the shooting, Rodriguez entered the museum and was apprehended by security personnel. He later revealed the location of the discarded weapon. The victims were identified as Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, who were engaged to be married. Condolences poured in from high-ranking officials, including President Trump, who tweeted that such antisemitic acts must stop.
