Double Homicide Outside D.C. Jewish Museum: Suspect Shouts 'Free Palestine'
On May 22, 2025, a tragic shooting occurred outside the Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., claiming the lives of two Israeli embassy staff members, identified as Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, a young couple. The suspect, 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez, was apprehended and reportedly shouted "Free Palestine." According to Washington, D.C. Chief of Police Pamela Smith, "Prior to the shooting, the suspect was observed pacing back and forth outside of the museum. He approached a group of four people, produced a handgun, and opened fire, striking both of our decedents." Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated the killings were a "direct result of toxic antisemitic incitement against Israelis and Jews around the world." President Donald Trump, in a Truth Social post, also suggested the killings were driven by antisemitism. Following the incident, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel would increase security at its embassies worldwide. While the investigation continues, the incident highlights the ongoing concerns about antisemitism and violence.
