TikTok Scam Costs Minsk Resident 10,000 Rubles
Minsk Man Loses 10,000 Rubles in TikTok Scam A 46-year-old resident of Minsk recently fell victim to an online scam, losing over 10,000 rubles. The incident highlights the dangers of get-rich-quick schemes promoted on social media platforms. The man responded to a TikTok advertisement offering a part-time job promoting products. The unusual condition of the job was that he needed to maintain an account balance exceeding the value of the products he was to promote. Initially, the scheme seemed legitimate, as he successfully completed several tasks and withdrew approximately 200 rubles in earnings. However, as the tasks progressed, the products to be promoted became more expensive, requiring larger investments from the victim. He eventually transferred over 10,000 rubles before realizing he was being scammed. "I only deposited money after I received my initial payment," said the victim. "But then I only kept depositing more and more." The Minsk police have launched a criminal investigation into the case. Authorities are urging citizens to exercise caution when encountering online opportunities promising quick and easy profits. Always verify the legitimacy of any such offers before investing any money.
