Budapest, Hungary – A unique opportunity recently unfolded as Zoli, a young Hungarian citizen, realized his long-held wish to experience police work firsthand, including a helicopter patrol with the Chief Captain of the Hungarian National Police, Pintér Sándor. The event, documented by the television program "Three Wishes," offered an unusual glimpse into the operations of law enforcement. The day began with Zoli meeting Chief Captain Pintér Sándor at the police headquarters. During a candid interview, Zoli inquired about the Chief Captain's daily responsibilities and any life-threatening incidents he encountered during his career. Chief Captain Pintér Sándor elaborated on the demanding nature of his role, stating, "My day begins with briefings on all events from the previous night." He stressed the collaborative spirit essential to policing, adding, "It's a team effort; there's no such thing as a single 'tough' or 'good' detective here." Regarding the efficacy of crime-solving, he confidently asserted, "There is no perfect crime. We detect 50% of all committed crimes in Hungary." The highlight of Zoli's experience was a helicopter patrol over the M3 highway. From above, Chief Captain Pintér Sándor demonstrated how aerial surveillance significantly enhances traffic monitoring and the identification of incidents. "From 200-300 meters high, the entire road section is visible," he explained, noting the improved ability to spot traffic jams or situations requiring immediate ground unit deployment. This aerial perspective, he highlighted, allows for more efficient deployment of resources to maintain public safety and order. The day concluded with Chief Captain Pintér Sándor presenting Zoli with a commemorative watch, marking the fulfillment of an extraordinary wish and a memorable encounter with the nation's top police official.
