Bucharest, Romania – The Humanist Social Liberal Party (PUSL), through its communication coordinator Lavinia Șandru, has publicly called on Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan to address what they describe as an "intolerable situation" regarding parliamentary travel expenses. In a statement released today, PUSL highlighted that Romanian parliamentarians recently approved 12 million lei for business class flights. Ms. Șandru stated, "This is not just a lack of empathy; it is defiance and an abuse." She questioned why ordinary citizens, including pensioners, mothers, and employees struggling to pay bills, are asked to make sacrifices, while elected officials allocate significant public funds for luxurious travel. PUSL asserts that parliamentarians should travel economy class, just like doctors, teachers, and other ordinary citizens. "If they want luxury, they should pay for it from their own pockets, not from our money, the Romanians'," Ms. Șandru emphasized. She concluded by urging the Prime Minister to intervene to "stop this shame," asserting that Romanians "can no longer be lied to, they can no longer be humiliated."
