SANTA CRUZ, Bolivia – Amidst Bolivia's ongoing economic challenges, a family in Santa Cruz is struggling daily to secure basic necessities. Juan and Veronica, along with their six children, face significant hardships, including a lack of potable water and no stable income.
The family relies on purchasing bottled water for drinking and cooking, while collecting rainwater for washing. Their primary source of sustenance comes from selling food and raising ducks and chickens. "When there's food, we eat," stated Juan, highlighting that their main meal often occurs as late as 5 PM, depending on what they manage to earn.
Veronica shared the emotional toll of their situation: "Other children have new toys and clothes, but we cannot buy them for ours because we don't have a fixed job." Despite these profound difficulties, the family maintains a spirit of resilience and faith. "We are grateful every day that God gives us food, that we don't lack bread on our table, and that He gives us health," Veronica added, expressing their hope for a better future.
This family's struggle reflects the broader plea of thousands of Bolivian families for economic stability and opportunities in the face of the current crisis.
