School Breakfast Program Disrupted in Santa Cruz, Bolivia: Mayor Blames Roadblocks Students in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, began their school week without their usual breakfast on Monday, June 16th. The Municipal Director of Education, Raúl Ascarrunz, explained that roadblocks prevented the delivery of the supplementary school meals. "The request I made was to allow the food trucks to pass," Ascarrunz stated, referring to the trucks carrying breakfasts provided by companies contracted in La Paz and Cochabamba. He noted that only one company in Santa Cruz is currently contracted for this program, and the roadblocks are preventing delivery. Ascarrunz added that they are working with the companies to provide double rations to students as soon as the roadblocks are cleared. The mayor's office has attributed the disruption to the ongoing roadblocks.
