Santa Cruz School Plagued by Robberies, Parents Demand Enhanced Security

SANTA CRUZ, BOLIVIA – The Mirette Sciaroni educational module, located near the city's zoo, is facing a wave of persistent robberies, prompting urgent calls for increased security from concerned parents. According to reports from the parents' association, recent incidents have seen thieves making off with valuable equipment, including fans and other essential items. Parents expressed their frustration and concern over the ongoing vulnerability of the school. "They entered through the third ring road side," stated one parent, whose identity was withheld for privacy. "Their faces are clearly visible on the cameras, which we installed not long ago because this educational unit has always suffered from robberies." The parent further explained that the latest incident involved a single individual who entered through a window, taking two fans and a pot. "Thanks to God, they couldn't take anything else," she added, emphasizing that the school remains unprotected, especially during holidays when it is left unattended. The school board is now demanding immediate action from the municipal authorities. They are specifically requesting the deployment of municipal gendarmes to reinforce security at the educational unit. "We are suffering a lot from robberies because while parents fulfill the needs of our educational units, making an effort to provide everything, including the cameras, we make an effort for this unit to have protection," the parent stated. "Unfortunately, during vacations, or mid-year, the educational units are left alone, left to God's will. There is no way to provide security." The community hopes that increased municipal presence will deter future criminal activity and safeguard the school's resources, which are often acquired through the collective efforts of parents.
