Souni, Cyprus – A large fire swept through a residential area in Souni on July 24, 2025, causing significant damage to homes and prompting desperate pleas for help from residents. The inferno, which illuminated the night sky with an orange glow, reportedly left residents feeling abandoned as they struggled to protect their properties. A video circulating online, captured from a moving vehicle, shows houses engulfed in flames, with sparks visible in the air. A resident, whose voice is heard in the footage, expressed profound distress over the situation. "Fire inside a residential area in Souni. No one is here to help. Not a single fire truck. Not even one firefighter to assist. Residents don’t even have water to save their homes from the flames," the resident stated, criticizing the authorities. "The government is absent... is nonexistent. We are at the mercy of God." The extent of the damage and any potential casualties are yet to be officially confirmed.
