Following recent rainfall in Iași, particularly in the Bucium area, a notable amount of foam has appeared on the streets. Silviu Gurlui, a local Member of Parliament, recorded a video highlighting the phenomenon, suggesting it indicates significant air pollution. According to Gurlui, this foam is a result of 'surfactants' from 'pollutants that result from combustion and various additives in oil and gasoline' that are dispersed in the atmosphere. He stated that the rain acts to 'cleanse the atmosphere' of these pollutants. Gurlui emphasized that this observation serves as 'proof that the air has been loaded with exotic pollutants.' The presence of such foam, particularly after heavy rains in areas with high traffic, raises questions about air quality and urban environmental conditions in Iași.
