Fire Destroys Biergarten of Berlin Techno Club 'Wilde Renate'
BERLIN – A major fire overnight has devastated the biergarten and outdoor premises of the popular Berlin techno club 'Wilde Renate' in Friedrichshain. The blaze, which erupted in the early hours of Thursday, caused extensive damage to the club's outdoor areas, including its wooden fence, but fortunately spared the main multi-story building. Authorities confirmed that no individuals were injured in the incident. A total of 37 firefighters were deployed to bring the fire under control. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with officials considering technical defects, negligence, or arson as potential factors. 'Wilde Renate' has long been a staple of Berlin's vibrant nightlife scene. The club had previously announced its plans to close permanently by the end of 2025, citing a significant rent increase and the landlord's intentions to redevelop the property as reasons for its impending closure.
