Farm Foreman Sentenced in Belarus Cattle Death Cover-Up
A criminal case unfolded in the Pinsk region of Belarus, focusing on the falsification of documents related to cattle deaths at a local farm. Ekaterina Babich, Deputy Prosecutor of the Pinsk Inter-District Prosecutor's Office, stated, "The accused, knowing about the death of less than eleven heads of large cattle, entered inaccurate information into official documents." This concealment was an attempt to avoid disciplinary action and potential financial penalties. The farm director, Dmitry Melnik, commented on the situation, noting that "the total number of cattle in the farm is 3160 heads, with the milking herd at 1225." Despite the incident, Melnik emphasized that the farm has since normalized the situation and addressed other identified violations. The investigation uncovered similar instances of concealment in other farms within the region. The foreman received a sentence of two years of restricted freedom, a verdict that is currently subject to appeal.
