
Senacyt Invests $1 Million in Panamanian Science Education
Panamá: Senacyt Invests \$1 Million in UTP Science Master's Programs Panama City, June 4, 2025 – The National Secretariat of Science, Technology, and Innovation (Senacyt) has announced a \$1 million investment in five new scientific master's degree programs at the Technological University of Panama (UTP). This initiative aims to bolster scientific research and development within the country. The investment will fund master's programs in various scientific fields, including climate change, mechanical engineering, transportation engineering, and energy sustainability. These programs will be offered in both Panama City and the Azuero region, expanding access to advanced scientific education. "This is not just about funding," stated Eduardo Ortega, Director of Senacyt, in an interview featured in the TVN Noticias video report. "It's about catalyzing activities and research within these five master's programs." Angellino Harris, Rector in charge of the UTP, highlighted the importance of the investment for the university and the nation.
