Sarawak Implements Gas Distribution Regulations: Licenses Issued, Notices Served KUCHING, Sarawak – The Sarawak state government has stepped up enforcement of gas distribution regulations following the passage of the Gas Distribution (Amendment) Bill 2023. Dato Ibrahim Baki, Deputy Minister of Utilities, announced that the Ministry has taken several regulatory actions under the Gas Distribution Ordinance 2016 (DGO 2016). These actions include the issuance of licenses to various industry players in both upstream and downstream sectors. "We have issued 14 licenses to upstream players and 537 licenses to downstream players," Dato Ibrahim stated during a press conference. In addition to licensing, the Ministry has also issued 10 notices to parties operating without the required licenses. This proactive approach aims to ensure compliance and safety within the gas distribution sector. The government's efforts demonstrate a commitment to regulating this vital industry for the benefit of Sarawak's citizens.
