
64 Undocumented Migrants Detained in Kuching Immigration Raids
KUCHING, SARAWAK, MALAYSIA – May 22, 2025 – In a coordinated effort to curb illegal immigration, the Immigration Department of Malaysia Sarawak launched Ops Sapu and Ops Belanja, resulting in the arrest of 64 undocumented migrants in Kuching. The operation, which took place from Tuesday to Wednesday, involved 30 immigration officers and covered eight locations. The detainees, comprising 55 men and 9 women, are alleged to have violated various provisions of the Immigration Act. "The operation underscores our commitment to maintaining immigration control and upholding the rule of law," said an official from the Immigration Department, speaking on condition of anonymity. The detainees are currently being processed and will face legal repercussions for their actions.
