Shreveport, LA - A recent incident at a Planet Fitness location in Shreveport, Louisiana, has sparked concern regarding the accommodation of service animals in public facilities. On September 4, 2025, a gym member identified as "UncleDragonLord" was reportedly denied entry to the gym with his registered service animal.According to the video footage, the staff member at the front desk stated, "There's no dogs allowed in the gym." The member countered, explaining, "This is a service animal. It's a registered service animal. I have a medical necessity to bring my dog with me." He further emphasized that the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits denying access to individuals with service animals. The staff member maintained that it was a "general rule" and not a company policy, despite the member's insistence that Planet Fitness, as a public company, is legally obligated to allow service animals. "Everybody is required to follow the law, or your company will be sued," the member asserted. He also noted that he had previously visited "50 other Planet Fitnesses" without issue. After a brief attempt to contact a superior, the staff member reiterated, "I'll take the lawsuit. You have a nice day," effectively expelling the member and his service dog from the premises. The incident raises questions about staff training and adherence to federal disability laws within the fitness industry.
