La Paz, Bolivia – Substitute magistrate Iván Campero has been placed under house arrest following a judicial decision related to the "Consorcio" case. The ruling, issued after several hours of hearings, determined the measure for Campero, who is currently being held in the cells of the Special Force for the Fight Against Crime (FELCC).
According to reports, Campero is implicated in the "Consorcio" case for allegedly attempting to usurp the position of titular magistrate Fanny Coaquira, leveraging an irregular ruling by Judge Marcelo Leaplaza.
Meanwhile, family members and supporters of Iván Campero gathered outside the FELCC facilities, holding vigils and protesting the judicial determination. Signs were displayed, some reading "Dr. Iván Campero: Professional, Honest, Victim of Unjust Accusation. We ask for Justice!" and "Justice is blind, but the truth is revealed. Siles Innocent!"
The report also noted that former Justice Minister César Siles is scheduled to declare today at 8:30 AM in connection with the same case, following his formal imputation. Another implicated individual, lawyer José Uriarte, also a former vice-consul, remains in police custody, awaiting his precautionary measures hearing. The "Consorcio" case involves various judges, prosecutors, and lawyers within the Bolivian justice system.
