Bolivian Education Ministry Confirms Distance Learning for La Paz and El Alto Amid Measles Concerns
La Paz, Bolivia – The Ministry of Education has announced its decision to not advance the winter vacation for students in La Paz and El Alto, instead confirming that classes will transition to a distance learning modality. This measure is a preventative step against the spread of measles. Unlike La Paz and El Alto, the department of Santa Cruz will proceed with an early winter vacation. Basilio Pérez, the Departmental Director of Education, stated that an epidemiological evaluation will be conducted daily to monitor the situation. "For now, this week, distance learning is being implemented," Pérez explained. "We will evaluate day by day. If there is no rebound, next week, always in contact with health, we will lift the distance modality if it corresponds." The objective is to prevent further contagion and ensure student safety. The decision underscores the authorities' commitment to adapting educational strategies to current public health needs, prioritizing the well-being of the student population while ensuring continuity of learning.
